I fell in love with a dead man;

I don’t know him and he doesn’t know me.

I lie beside him but he just breathes

In deep sleep.

He’s blind

He’s deaf

And he doesn’t even speak.

I fell in love with a dead man

Who is always half awake or half asleep

In comatose

In a never ending dream.

He made his bed

And he deserves to die in it

Or so they say.

I start to think maybe he will die in it

If I leave him for a few days.

He’s too tired to fight;

He sinks deeper into his bed.

The further he falls, the harder it gets.

And as I sit here

 I desperately ponder how I could possibly

Bring a dead man back to life.

It’s like some kind of Frankenstein experiment;

I’m crazy they say,

For trying to wake him.

For waiting for him.

I don’t know what to say.

He’s still breathing;

I can hear him.

There has to be a way.

I used to be “dead”

Right beside him

But now I’m awake.

So, here I will wait.

Not even death

Can scare me away.
