Used To Mean So Much

Not so very long ago I was your favourite toy,

I got to play with all your friends, with every girl and boy.

Now you do not see me and I’m longing for your touch,

I’m longing for those days gone by when I used to mean so much.

My days are spent in silence, it’s as though you do not see

Your once so special playmate, the teddy who is me.

You’d read to me your stories, on adventures I’d be there,

But now you just don’t notice me, now you just don’t care.

If I could shed some tears they’d never stop, I’ll truthfully confess;

My fur would be so soggy and I’d look like such a mess.

You would not even notice for I do not have a screen

and toys that are pre-technology are very rarely seen.

So now when you don’t see me, I’m left craving for your touch

And longing for the days gone by when I used to mean so much.
