I wrote this poem after driving by a park and spotting a lovely couple having a wonderful time. My wounds were open and fresh, so I couldn't help but picture my life through them. Have you felt that way?

No Longer Grand

Saw a young couple at the park;
Holding hands; igniting a spark.
The father holds their kid’s little hand;
It’s the kinda love that feels grand.

As they walk across the concrete,
They look so happy and complete.
It’s everything I want to be;
Sadly it’s not you and me.

At night to me you come back,
Like little light through a wall crack.
And we make sweet love in this bed,
But I wake up; it’s all in my head.

I miss the softness of your voice;
I can no longer hear the noise.
I miss the profoundness of your stare;
You’re gone to God knows where.

And that young couple at the park,
Reminds me that we had that spark.
When it was you and me hand in hand;
The kinda love no longer grand.
