Raindrops on the windshield. The fog is moving in. I can hear that lonesome whistle blowing. The blues of a man in love. He stands proud in the spotlight. A suit as white as snow . Her cold heart has been crying . Not one tear falls astray. As the man of her dreams .. Fades on that lonesome highway .

She stops for just a moment . In a quiet place out of town. She feels the light of heartache. And feels the wind die down. A stranger with shiny shoes . Greets her with a smile. Smelling like a brewery . Beneath his hat . He had a hard conflicted frown. He knew she was lonesome. Now that he was gone . He tips his hat and disappears Into the annex yard.

He was so lonesome he could cry. Her heart was breaking She stays true to her vow. But, he's nobody's sugar daddy now . Just a glimpse of love light. That flickers now and then. Friends have claimed they saw him . Behind them on stage. Saying hello as they walk the floor. And out through the opry doors. He was a drifter. Dressed in white. He had drank too much his heart was weak. On that final goodbye ride. He loved his time . He never held anything back. The train whistle cried when he hung his hat. In that blue Cadillac..
