The gathering storm appears, across our line of sight,

A thundering irresistible force, of magnitude and might,

Pushing easily past defences, erected for the fight,

Happiness a stranger, as all our hopes take flight.

As darkness pushes daylight, and blackness grips once more,

It's power and strength colossus, impossible to ignore,

Shattering everything before it, on the journey to our core,

Depositing crumpled memories, upon a deserted shore.

A desolate land of sorrow, with words that no one hears,

Where loneliness finds comfort and recollection sears,

A place where none would wish to live, the home to darkest fears,

Battered, bruised and broken, in the space between our tears.
