In a cabin in the woods lived Karen McNasty

Along with her children and a husband named Blue.

There were four kids in all and they grew very tall

And when it came to hunting they knew what to do.

They would run through the wood at a furious clip

Scaring the critters and running deer down.

But they didn't kill them, no, they didn't kill them,

They just hopped on their backs and rode them around.

It was a curious sight in the daytime, or night,

Seeing those kids --- riding deer --- all round.

Zipping past trees like four bumble-bees

Over critters, bushes, and leaf covered ground.

Karen didn't like it and ordered it stopped

So Blue got a rope and lassoes the four.

They were Hog-tied --- in the middle of a ride

Then hung so neatly on the mud-room door.

"That's not very classy," said Karen McNasty.

"Couldn't you give them some penance to do?"

"Well I could do that --- in the drop of a hat

If I knew what that meant," --- said Blue.

Now the deer are safe and fed apples often

By the fast and repentant --- the McNasty four.

It's all part of the deal and they don't mind

'cause anything's better than the Mud-room door.
