Chapter 33-The Surprise

Mike awoke in pitch darkness. After a few seconds, he realized that he was at his penthouse and in bed. He felt good and rested as the glove had healed him while he slept. He turned and looked at the digital clock and saw that it was five thirty four PM

He rose out of bed and started walking toward Ray's room. "Had all this been some kind of nightmare?"  he thought. No, much too real.

Mike looked in Ray's room and saw the bed was still made.

He was gone!

Ray shook his head and started waking up. Apparently he had blacked out for a while.

The memories started coming back to him. Was he dead? He knew that he and his partner had been defeated.

He sat up, his vision a little blurry, and looked around. He was in some kind of place that he had never seen before. Xana then came into view. She was sitting not too far from him.

And smiling!

Ray instantly rose in the air and leveled his glove at her.

"No need for that," she said, "I surrender."

Puzzled, Ray came back down and stood on the ground, still keeping his gloved hand pointed at her. She still continued to smile and look back at him.

"Don't you want to know where you are at?" she asked, "look around."

Ray kept his eye on her for another few seconds and got a little further away. Then he checked out his surroundings.

It was the most incredibly beautiful place he had ever seen.  They were in some kind of pasture, with vividly velvet blue grass and the purest most sparkling emerald green stream he had ever layed eyes on.

There were flowers of absolutlely gorgeous colors, reds, yellows, green, orange, and some he could not name.

There were bird and butterfly type creatures flying in the air. The sky was a light reddish color.

The air was the cleanest and purest he had ever smelled. Beautiful deer like creatures had come out of a surrouding wood, curiously looking at them.

Ray looked back at Xana.

"We are in a world called Pleadia," she said, "I discovered it when I did my travels into other realms after I acquired my powers and mystical knowledge."

Ray heard a sound and looked away to find the source. It was large tropical like fish jumping in and out the stream.

"Go try one of those large figs hanging from the tree," Xana said, pointing at one.

Ray looked at her distrustfully for a few seconds, until she gently laughed. "Go on, you silly goose," she said, "there's nothing to fear."

He walked over and plucked it off the tree, Then he bit into it.

It had to be just about the most delicious thing he had ever tasted.

Ray walked back and sat down next to Xana. "Would you be so kind as to explain just what the hell is going on here?" he asked

Xana looked down for a second, then back up and into his eyes.

"When we first confronted each other, and you tried to become invisible, your know it did not work, as far as my eyes are concerned. I concentrated to keep you in sight. When I did, I not only saw you, but saw inside your soul. I found your soul to be pure and gallant. You and your partner battle evil to protect the innocent."

There was a slight pause. The only sound there was was that of the rushing stream waters and the splashing of the jumping fish.

"In the days following, I thought about you many times. I also became aware that the group I am with are misguided and what they are doing is wrong, having been convinced by an insane being that what we are doing is right."

Ray just remained silent and let her talk.

"Even though it may be hard for you to believe, I have fallen in love with you. I have never met anyone like you and I feel you are the answer to what I have been seeking all my life."

Another few seconds passed. Then Ray said "Well, I am flattered. And I really don't know what else to say at this point. What do you plan on doing with me now?"

"I was hoping you would ask," Xana replied.  She grabbed Ray's head and brought her lips to his.

They lay down in the grass and Xana made their clothes disappear. Then Ray experienced a love making that he never had before.

Being that Xana was a sorceress, their intimacy was much more than sex. They went to the stars. It was like their souls left their bodies as they embraced and soared past galaxies and into dimensions that were indescribable.

And Xana made sure it was not over quckly. It went on for hours.

Mike turned on the six o'clock news. Their battle had been recorded by satellite.

He watched as the final scene took place, with all of them disappearing after Xana raised her hands.

He sat and pondered for a minute. "Now what?" he thought.
