My name is Abigail, and I love my rats.

I have three of them: their names are Squiggly, Wiggly, and Piggly.  I adopted them from the local animal shelter about six months ago, and they have brought me endless moments of joy and laughter.

They are siblings: all born in one litter, two boys (Squiggly and Piggly) and one girl (Wiggly).  Wiggly was the runt of the litter; we thought she would go to the big Cheese Factory in the sky, but she somehow prevailed and she is still going strong, nearly two years later.  She's a lot tougher than we have given her credit for.  (I adopted her as soon as she was strong enough; this was what the owner of the pet store had told me when I'd purchased them.)

Two (Wiggly and Squiggly) are pure white with pink eyes; the remaining rat is white with a solid brown head; and his eyes are dark chocolate brown, almost black, they are so dark.  They are absolutely adorable!

My rats love to play and romp around, and they love to crawl all over me and give me whisker-kisses, and they love to nibble (gently) my ears or my nose or cheeks.  They have never bitten me, ever, and they have the sweetest, most gentlest nature about them.

Of course, seeing I have rats as pets, I don't have anything else.  Don't want to risk a bigger animal (say, a dog or a cat) chasing them or even harming them by eating them or killing them; that would be too tragic for words! So my rats stay home, and my teenaged sons take excellent care of them when I am at work or at school (I am studying to become a nurse).  Many people are grossed out or disgusted by my critters, but I see nothing wrong with owning rodents; they are just as good as a dog or a cat, possibly even better, because they are so intelligent and so clean!

Well, have to get ready to feed my babies and then let them run around for a bit before I put them back in their cage before I head out for school; have a big test today.  Take care and God bless; hope you enjoyed reading my story!  I love my ratty babies so much!! :)
