If Tomorrow Means Goodbye

If tomorrow means goodbye,
Just hold me close tonight.
I will lie down and cry,
Come the morning light.

For sometimes we mean forever,
But love slips out of hearts.
We said that we would never,
But some bridges fall apart.

We’ve known it quite some time,
And we act like it’s not there.
Just two fools now past their prime;
It’s more than my heart can bear.

For sometimes we mean well,
But the light always reveals the dark,
And we wake up from cast spells,
And the wind blows out the spark.

If tomorrow means goodbye,
Kiss me in these final hours,
I will break down and cry,
As I mourn this love of ours.
