I know she is your life, that she is your innermost soul---

But can’t you see how much I crave you, how you’re the only thing that makes me whole?

I know she is your beautiful, your always, forever, only---

But can’t you see how lost I am without you; this hollow, aching, lonely?

I know she is your salvation, that she’s all you’ll ever see---

But can’t you see how desperately I need you, what your absence is doing to me?

I know she is your faith, your tender saving grace---

But can’t you see how I long for your presence, the barest glimpse of your face?

I know she is your holy, your only form of healing---

But can’t you see how utterly you break me; when you talk to me with words, when I look at you with feeling?

I know she is your everything, your beginning, middle, end---

But can’t you see how our distance hurts me, the very thing I cannot mend?

I know she is your glittering hope, the morning to your night---

But can’t you see how dull I am without you, the blind girl searching for your light?

I know she makes your head spin, she’s the reason behind your smile---

But can’t you see how hopelessly I love you, how your memory is inescapable-not ever, not even for a while?

But you will never see how much you mean to me, how our time together was almost divine--

I will never, ever forget you—and you will never, ever be mine.
