Not all bridges burn.

All bridges do not burn.

Some are simply forgotten and

sink beneath the undergrowth of age.

And when winds of adversity blow,

wooden beams wail like banshees in the night

who’ve discovered therein lies the death

of a connection.

Like old bones that seek rest,

these weakened bridges welcome the earth.

And time—graceful, merciless—

Calls them to the dust.
