There was a whisper in the wind and I heard it

It came upon me like the gray side of morning.

I had no hiding place, or any empty space,

So I fell on bended knees and started dying.

The shadows crossed the ceiling to the rafters

Then they swallowed up the past that I lived in.

Only fools walk this way in the wake of yesterday

That's when I marked my place and started to begin.

I heard the wind, and this time there was music

Drifting through the trees like a rhapsody.

I thought I knew the song, the title isn't long

And I believe that it is called, Unchained Melody.

I've closed my eyes to the harsher side of life.

What good is it to cater to the yearning?

So I whispered to the wind and it answered as a friend,

Then came upon me --- like the gray side of morning.
