Nichi Botsu

“It’s you...” the Empress sat in a large throne wearing gaudy jewelry and a crown that probably added about three feet of height on her short little body. Nichi’s eyebrows rose. The Empress drummed her fingers on the arm of the throne.

“It’s me...” she mocked. The guard tugged on her bound hands.

“Your Majesty, I bring you, Nichi Botsu, who is charged with murder, vandalizing, stealing and being found a traitor.” The guard stiffened and looked afraid, maybe... maybe even trying to hide it? The thought made Nichi chuckle, but if anyone noticed, no one showed.

“I see. Thank you Aimery. Now, How must you plead? I fear if you do not answer truthfully, the consequences will be dire.”

“I have indeed vandalized, murdered and disrespected the royal court, but I assure you, I am not a traitor.” Nichi smiled.

“Please continue.” She requested in an almost-too-sweet- tone The Empress tilted her head upwards, making her hair jewelry jingle.

“I simply didn’t know,” Nichi smirked and waved her bound hands in the air, ignoring the constant tugs by the her guard. The Empress laughed bitterly.

“Don’t mock me.” She laughed once more. Nichi rolled her eyes.

“For the love of- can I leave?” She asked.

“Hold your tongue.” The Empress glared. She held her tongue, startled by her own actions. The Empress laughed, like a mad woman. She fell from her throne, guards rushing over to her, still laughing, holding her stomach, eyes filled with hunger, and amusement.

Barley enunciating her words she managed to say, “P-put her back in her cell, p-please.”

Still hearing the faint crackles, Nichi was tugged out of the room.

“Stay in there!” The guard yelled and threw her in. She knew his cruelty was intentional, and that he did it simply because he could. Another guard appeared behind him solemn faced.

“Nichi Botsu, you have a call.” He grabbed her arm and led her to a station with s phone. She glanced back at them.

“Hello? May we speak with Nichi Botsu?” A familiar voice said.

“This is she. Can I help you?” She replied almost too loudly.

“Oh yes, you can help us, indeed. “ the voice continued, “We have your close friend, Jack. Yes, is he of importance to you? “ they asked.

She wasn’t a niäve stupid so she lied, “Not at all. Why do you ask?” A long pause...

“Well, we’ve got him. He’s at 4386729 alley, if of course, you want him.” They replied, knowing she’d lied.

“I’m in jail.” She assured them, trying to make her voice as relaxed and professional as theirs.

“Yes, no trouble at all. Brake out, “ they said. She laughed. “Story of my life. How am I supposed to do that?”

“You’re very skilled at hacking even the most high-quality security systems, that much we know.” She grunted. It was better one get captured than two, she knew that, but she was already planning on escaping, like the hundreds of other times she had. Since then though, they’ve updated he security. She smiled.

“That idiot.”
