Just finished writing this poem as I reminisced about many people I met while clubbing, trying to avoid thinking about life's problems and chasing cheap highs that would be gone come morning light.

 Dancing With Our Heartbreaks On

Skin-tight jeans and tequila shots;
Disco lights and provocative dances.
Chasing highs in all the town’s hottest spots;
Strangers having five-minute torrid romances.

Same faces like every other night;
We’re all broken but we just pretend.
And we’ll all be here come the morning light;
The put-on fun around here doesn’t end.

Kisses in the dark and curious hands;
Binging on a wild ride that’s bound to break down,
All of us spent some time in the badlands,
And we’re looking for a pulse in this sleepless town.

Club bangers and drowning in the bottle our sorrow;
Bathroom thrills and champagne filled glasses.
We come to hide from what will become tomorrow;
The lights are blinding but we were sunglasses

Feeling like zombies but secretly awake;
We’re all dancing with our heartbreaks on.
Hearts so shattered yet still about to break;
But we party like our troubles are gone.
