I wrote this poem this morning from my desk. As I was trying to convince myself to work on my "To Do List" for the day, I sat there, motionless, wondering about my life choices and facing the reality of adulthood. Have you felt this way?

There Must Be More

They say "it's just a stepping stone;
it'll help you set your foot on the door."
Just the dues I have to pay to sit on the throne;
It'll get me all that I want and even more.

But as I work this endless nine-to-five,
I watch my life go by behind this desk,
forgetting everything that used to make me feel alive;
A man of art living in a gray world so grotesque.

And I wonder about what could be out there,
if I just dare to be strong and brave.
Would I suffocate trying to breathe fresh air,
after being so used to be in this jailing cave?

But what if my convictions are enough,
to break these corporate oppressing chains?
And I could finally be doing what I love,
for dreaming still runs through my veins.

Then I wake up and convince myself it's just a stepping stone;
Just another way to set my foot on the door.
But I wonder if it's worth going through this ride alone,
And I think that to this life there must be more.
