Hi guys. Before you read this poem, I hope you read this summary. First of all, I respect everyone's spiritual beliefs and the religions you practice. What you're going to write is based on my own reality. I am not looking for anyone to try and change my beliefs, as I don't intend to change anyone's beliefs with this writing. Writing has always been my outlet to express my deepest thoughts and darkest experiences, as I also write about the happy memories and beautiful moments in life. Please, do not be offended by this poem, but if you are, I apologize in advance. Still, I do hope you enjoy it.

If There's A God

Burning questions come to me at night,
as I turn off my night light.
Questions I've always been afraid to ask;
to say them out loud ain't an easy task.

If there's truly a mighty God,
and you claim he's not a fraud,
why do innocent people have to die?
Leaving their families to suffer and cry.

Can you tell me why in the name of religion,
the government always makes the wrong decision?
And people are stripped from their civil rights,
because silly christians pick on silly fights.

And why on Earth would a loving God,
if he's really not a fraud,
condemn his own children to burn in Hell,
to protect all that is supposedly pure and well.

Whatever happened to tolerance,
and giving people a second chance?
They tell me I have no choice but to believe,
and if not I might as well just leave.

I want to believe that there's a God,
and he's not a fraud.
But how can I believe he's alive and well,
if his followers say that I belong in Hell?
