Best Served Cool.

You’ve dished it out, I’ve taken it, but I won’t any more,

I’m gonna send you on your way, point you to that door.

You’ve made me doubt my every thought, not to mention feeling,

messed so bad with my confidence you’ve set me up to reeling.

You had your constant little digs, and boy, how you have laughed,

you’ve honed up all your attacks in to a practised craft.

How many tears you’ve made me shed, how many times I’ve cried;

how many times I’ve wanted to have disappeared and died.

You say that this is nonsense, that it’s all just in my head,

but tell me then how every day is something that I dread.

Time and time again I’ve said it really does not matter,

that all the things that you do say are nothing more than chatter.

But I’ve seen your expression, know that every word you mean,

even when the language that you use is so obscene.

I’ve armoured myself perfectly, I’ll not let my guard down,

I’ll know I have succeeded when I bring to you a frown.

But I will keep my silence, bide my time, not be a fool,

for one thing that I’m sure of is revenge is best served cool.
