I reached for a dream under my pillow, but nothing was there, no—nothing was there

I wondered if maybe I left it somewhere, outside my memory, beyond my bed

I first checked the mattress, beneath and inside, but nothing was there, no—nothing was there

I then checked the closet, the floor, and the shelf

But still there was nothing, no—nothing was there

I began to get worried, I’d have to go out

But long had it been, since I’d gone about

I feared that the world was waiting outside, to crush me to pieces and break me apart

I didn’t want to be broken, no—never again

And so, I stayed back

And so, I stayed in

I went straight to bed and laid my head down

I reached once again—still nothing I found
