I try with everything in me
To put together a sentence
By word of mouth or otherwise
But syllables come out
Short and choppy;
Repetitive
And everyone laughs at me.
They call me
Repeat Pete.
They call me dummy.
Words come so effortlessly
For everyone but me.
My mind goes a mile a minute
But my tongue, it twitches,
Ticks
And shakes.
The teacher calls on me to
Answer a question,
I give an unintelligible response,
He slams his hand on the desk
And huffs,
"Please Repeat that Pete:
Speak more clearly!"
But no one could hear me. Or cared to listen
And now everyone's afraid of me
Because I kill for a livin’
I cut off people's tongues
After I force them to read
All night long
Until their mouth is dry
With strained vocal chords
Tongue tired
And tied
And sore...
The police are looking for me
They call me Repeat Pete
But if you happen to see me on the street,
My name is Peter
Just Peter,
Please.
