The aroma of freshly brewed coffee permeated the air. Sunlight filtered in from the glass pane windows, revealing blonde highlights in her dark hair. Everyday, her immutable routine would be to wake up, go to class, and come to the coffee shop a few blocks away from campus to calm her frazzled nerves. Today was no different. Until she saw him.

His dark hair was cropped short and he was carrying a backpack. So he was a student like herself. There was nothing particularly striking about him, he was very nondescript in character but little did she know he was going to change her life forever.

At first everything was mundane, almost monotonous, but within the next frame she saw bullets rip through his chest, his crimson blood drenching his thin, grey t-shirt. His body hit the floor before she could fully comprehend what had just happened. Screams tore at her ear drums as people raced to the door, in a frenzy, to escape the killer amongst the crowd. She was next.

Gasping, her eyes flew open. She looked around the coffee shop. No blood. No screams. Everything was normal. But she knew it wasn’t going to be for long.
