I wrote this poem from the perspective of a lonely traveler wishing and longing to see something new. Enjoy!

I've been watching out my window now,

Looking at the sea.

But now a view of buildings outside

Is all the window gives me.

I picture things beyond the lonely life I know:

Gold sands and grey fields covered with snow.

The beyond is calling, I cannot stay,

Here I cannot stand another day.

What vessel could bear me on my trip

Over this weary world?

Could I glide with the wind, or on dragon's back

As the stars around me twirl?

No wind or beast could bear me up

For my wanderlust is too great,

But my heart's strong enough to bear me up

If only I keep out the hate.

When I find a world beyond my own

And see what I can see,

What will be the point in finding a world

If there's no one to find it with me?

I will find someone to love

Who will fill the hole in my heart,

And we'll meet journey's end together,

The way we were from its start.
