Beautiful Wyvern Wald

A Short Story
by Josh Bywater

Jeff Pigeon had always loved beautiful Wyvern Wald with its orange, obedient oceans. It was a place where he felt relaxed.

He was a selfish, cowardly, port drinker with blonde arms and brown feet. His friends saw him as a villainous, vain vicar. Once, he had even helped an abundant old lady cross the road. That's the sort of man he was.

Jeff walked over to the window and reflected on his magical surroundings. The clouds danced like sleeping snakes.

Then he saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the figure of Catherine McCallister. Catherine was a remarkable wanderer with hairy arms and brunette feet.

Jeff gulped. He was not prepared for Catherine.

As Jeff stepped outside and Catherine came closer, he could see the curved glint in her eye.

"Look, Jeff," growled Catherine, with an incredible glare that reminded Jeff of remarkable ostriches. "It's not that I don't love you, but I want equality. You owe me 3033 gold pieces."

Jeff looked back, even more, sparkly and still fingering the crumpled blade. "Catherine, I don't have the money," he replied.

They looked at each other with happy feelings, like two crooked, charming cats sitting at a very gracious Valentine's meal, which had drum and bass music playing in the background and two stupid uncles running to the beat.

Jeff regarded Catherine's hairy arms and brunette feet. "I don't have the funds ..." he lied.

Catherine glared. "Do you want me to shove that crumpled blade where the sun doesn’t shine?"

Jeff promptly remembered his selfish and cowardly values. "Actually, I do have the funds," he admitted. He reached into his pockets. "Here's what I owe you."

Catherine looked confident, her wallet blushing like a brainy, broad banana.

Then Catherine came inside for a nice glass of port.
