Start Again

Trapped with no escape in my mind;
I was mourning love that’s kept me blind.
My friends say this pain is self-inflicted;
Just another lover that got himself addicted.

Pouring acid over my unhealed scars;
It was like grasping for air on planet Mars.
And I relied on self-sabotage without a case,
As if I was smelling roses on an empty vase.

These constant crying on the bathroom floor,
I decided I couldn’t do it anymore.
Down on the concrete, nowhere else to fall,
I couldn’t breathe so I punched a hole on the wall.

And with it all the light came in,
Creating vibrant colors on my dry skin.
And the falling rain washed away,
The tormenting words you did not say.

Tired of living with a heart filled with doubt;
I finally found a way to get out.
Like a battle wound I will wear this pain,
But now I can finally start again.
