Another piece in the Countdown to Life series. I hate sounding so cheesy, but this is about heartache, something I have too much experience in.

What am I, but a shell now?

"Distance makes the heart grow fonder..." they say.

"But the time does nothing when the silence breaks the only bridge between it," I add.

I waited, but nothing came.

I talked to him, but barely heard a thing.

Into the depths, he vanished.

Into myself, I perished.

O weary heart,

I can't feel you.

I can almost feel

the abyss again.

O weary heart,

do you still beat?

My chest used to ache,

but I think it ceased.

To give all,

To wait on,

Until nothing remains;

I waste away.

Perhaps I gave too much.

Perhaps I loved so much,

that he forgot to love himself.

But I cannot wait;

Life forces me forward.

Follow me,

if you wish.

Above all,

take care of yourself.

Love yourself.

For how can you plan a future,

when you won't move from the past?

O weary heart,

let us heal together.
