This is a collaboration between Hullabaloo22 and myself:

Sitting here, scared to turn on the news, a feeling of melancholy unexplained.

An unrecognisable world, a world suddenly gone insane.

Our leaders careening drunkenly from one bad idea to the next,

taking delight in stirring up a hornet's nest, with a policy stick, an idiot's hex

has befallen our anointed ones--the chosen ones,

chosen by us for celebrity or wealth, not for what they can get done.

Not knowing what to expect each and every single day,

is taking a toll, and is bringing so much confusion in to play.

Those that we should be able to trust to give it to us straight

are proving themselves duplicitous, becoming people that we abhor, we hate;

that we can no longer rely upon not to stab us in the back,

that should act for their people, and should be preventing an attack.

Instead there is a sense of doom that is swirling through my head,

that is making every moment one that’s filled now with such a dread.
