A stripper or exotic dancer is a person whose occupation involves performing striptease in a public adult entertainment venue such as a strip club. At times, a stripper may be hired to perform at a bachelor party or other private event. Until the 1970s, strippers in Western cultures were almost invariably female, performing to male audiences. Since then, male strippers have also become common. That was the beginning of gender equality.

Demi was a stripper to afford an appeal to get her daughter back. She was a former FBI secretary that lost custody of her young daughter Angela to her ex-husband Darrell, who was a criminal and cost Demi her job. A Congressman named David Dilbeck visited the club where she danced, and immediately began to adore her. Meanwhile, she retrieved her daughter from Darrell's negligent care. Dilbeck's personal interest in Demi persists, and she is invited to perform privately for him. He makes her an "Indecent Proposal". He asks her to become his lover and later his wife. It is indecent as he's still married to his wife, no matter he promises Demi he will soon divorce her.

Being involved emotionally and sexually with a congressman is "No Small Affair". He is a bit of a "Parasite", always on her heals. "Now and Then" he asks her for a private "Striptease" by the swimming pool, before taking a bath with him, naked. Dilbeck has a dark side. He has "Mortal Thoughts" and is involved in murders. By being his lover she knows too much. A debate occurs as to whether to kill Demi or simply keep her quiet by threatening to take away her daughter. When they fuck, she tells him.

"We're no Angels"

And she means it, as she concocts a plan to bring the congressman to justice. With the help of "A Few Good Men" from the police, led by officer Al Garcia; they make a plan to trick him.

"One Crazy Summer" she sees "The Seven Sign" in the sky. It's time to put the plan into action. She thinks it would be easier "If These Walls Could Talk". Instead she has to rely on a tape to record his confessions. He is soon after arrested. It was a "Rough Night", but she did it. She had "Wisdom" and she was "Flawless". As a reward, she regains full custody of Angela, gets her job in the FBI back, and retires from stripping, and Darrell returns to prison after he is convicted of his crimes. She and her daughter meet in "Happy Tears". When they wake up next morning, it is "Another Happy Day". She was "Blind" to marry Darrell. Now they are "Very Good Girls", just mother and daughter.

Sometimes she looks back at her time as a stripper. She has something to say about the prejudices they suffer.

"There's this idea that if you take your clothes off, somehow you must have loose morals."

People today seem to forget that we started naked as human being at the very beginning.

"It's about time that people forget that image of strip clubs as seedy places...Rather, today's clubs are capital-intensive female-empowerment zones..."

The strip clubs have improved, and the life condition of strippers as well. There's no need to stigmatize this activity, really.

"People can't bear the idea that I could be sexual and provocative, and still be a nice person with a nice family and a nice husband, and have a career that could work, and be paid a certain amount of money."

She found a new husband who was a former client of the strip club where she used to perform, an old fan. But people who know she has been a stripper judge her for her loose moral. Being sexual and provocative is automatically labeled as slut. So, to be respected as a woman you have to be a lady in the streets and a whore in bed? Wrong! You have to be a maid in the living room, a cook in the kitchen and a whore in the bedroom.

"Real men don't buy girls-they protect them. We're recruiting real men who have the courage to stand up against this issue."

What's the issue? People should be free to use their own body as they wish. This is wrong when you are forced against your will, when you are abused and taken advantage of. The real issue about sex is that society is looking at it from the wrong angle.

"So, goodnight Demi. Is it really indecent when the proposal comes from a man like Robert Redford?"
