Don’t Fall For It

Don’t fall for it, I’m telling you he’ll paint a pretty scene,

one that won’t have much relevance to quite where you have been.

He’ll fill your ears with all his lies, not just one bit of truth,

go ahead and fall for it if you need to see some proof.

He’ll build for you a fantasy, a world too good to miss,

you’ll step right there so willingly to escape a life like this.

He’ll tell you that you mean so much,

you’ll believe just what you’re told,

there’s one thing you must remember;

all that glitters is not gold.

There’s not much use in warnings when these words they will seduce,

and take away your senses, make your thoughts so little use.

For this world that he is building, this creation of a scene,

is one that you will die for, because it is your dream.

You think that there’s no truth to this, that I don’t have a clue

but remember well that once I was such an innocent as you.
