A Breath Of New Life

If it was ever possible for to time to stand still, and come a complete stop, it would have been then.

The night the air crept up the legs on my pants, causing my body hairs to erect themselves.

My ears still ringing from the shot fired from the small pistol I held in my hand. A single shot, aimed deliberately to free a soul, rather than, to kill.

The bullet wound had passed straight through his upper body, destroying both his lungs and heart.

He died. In my sight, instantly. His life less corpse laying at my feet. Positioned perfectly on its back, no sign of struggle to escape the ordeal.

Dropping the weapon, my mind began to narrow. I was no doubt in the most frightening moment of my existence.

I felt a wash of pride that quickly replaced my feelings of fright. The feeling of pride being on for my dedication to the crime was superb.

A weight lifted from my shoulders as my life returned to my soul. My skin began to weep its burrowed colours.

Something odd had began to form, as my mind began to wander, my heart soon tip toed behind in its footsteps.

No longer a prisoner of my own self doubt, I am a lost soul left to explore a world I once imprisoned.

A climax to my soul, new beginnings await my new found world. Although worry they shall not, wonder they might just.

My journey one day will allow a visit of a permanent nature, pleasant enough to come too soon.
