Weekend Away

The forecast, well it’s looking good

We’ll spend some time away,

We’ll fasten up the caravan

And then we’ll go and play.

The car is full of suitcases,

We’ve loaded up our stock,

So we’ll hit the highway

And the queues where others flock.

It gets just that bit tiring

But we’ll soon be on our way

To all that golden coastline

Where the sunseekers stay.

Too tired when we get there,

And too far back in the race,

We’ll not be picking where we park

We’re seeking for some space.

And then the morning comes along

But the sky, it’s stony grey

Perhaps it’s going to clear up soon

But no, it’s here to stay.

And then here comes the drizzle

Soon turning in to rain,

The forecast, it has tricked us all

Which really is a pain.

Cooped up inside a caravan,

Not space enough to share,

We’ll have to brave the elements

And get us some fresh air.

When we get back home again

I’m going to write up a ‘Sale’ ad,

For when it comes to caravans

It’s the last time I’ll be had.

The weatherman must be laughing,

For he’s tricked us all again

Into believing that we’ll get some sun

Just like they see in Spain.
