I Told Him Not

I told him not to leave it there

he said it'll be alright

until the moment when he ran

he fell and hurt his thigh

I told him not to play with fire

he said I'll be okay

until the moment when he left

the house became a blazed

I told him not to drink from that

he said it looked all clean

until the moment when he found

a frog inside his drink

I told him not to drive this night

he said I feel awake

until the moment when he woke

were found inside a lake

I told him not to touch that leaf

he said it's just a poke

until the moment he realized

this plant is poison oak

I told him not play with knives

he said it's just for fun

until the moment when he blinked

the knife cut through his thumb

I told him not to get in fights

he said I'm strong enough

until the moment when he fought

his hands became handcuffed

He told me not to nag at him

I said I care for you

until the moment when he said

Okay....let's get some food

...I told him not...
