One would think that becoming the CEO of a nearly trillion-dollar worth corporation would be exciting - but only two weeks into it, William Cook hated it to the core. He spent most of the day lounging in his office, watching MSNBC and smirking whenever his company was mentioned. When he was called to meetings with the board of directors, they usually discussed stock prices, advertising strategies, and other assorted things he didn’t really care about.

On this particular summer afternoon, Bill was in his office chair, slightly squinting at the television on the other side of the room. With no warning, the show he was watching instantly cut to a “BREAKING NEWS” graphic.

“Yet another terrorist attack,” he muttered to himself.

Only it wasn’t. When the anchorman came on screen, he appeared to have a grim look on his face, as if Bill’s assumptions were correct. However, the words that came out of his mouth not only threw Bill completely off track, but actually made him fearful of what might happen next.

“This just in - a second sentient species residing on Earth have revealed themselves in the Bronx. Calling themselves ‘Catgirls’, they appear to speak and fully understand English…”

Not long after the word “catgirls” registered in Bill’s mind, he immediately put two and two together. The anchorman’s words trailed off into background noise as he realized that this was his company’s fault.

This wasn’t like that scandal last year, back when he was Vice President of Sales and Production, when all he did was watch from the distance. This time, he had no choice but to deal with the backlash if the press found out.

Wait… if! That’s it; he just had to cover up the incident as best as they could, and pray to God that whomever was the researcher that escaped didn’t blab about it.

Damn,” he swore under his breath, realizing that the fate of the MegaSoft Corporation rested on a transgender, trans-species, trans-whatever-the-hell-she-was-now, anime girl.
