My Relationship with Truth

I respect honesty in myself and others. It is a rare commodity. Like cream, it rises to the top whether expressed in words or actions.

In the past I have danced around the truth. I have bent it to suit my needs. I have told white lies as to not hurt others. I have used it like a weapon against my enemies. I have stock piled it in case of emergency.

The older I become the more difficulty I have with lies. I can no longer contain my frustration when I sense dishonesty. I have fewer filters and call people out much more readily now.

I believe the truth can be expressed with a soft tone but rarely is. The anxiety and sadness that often partner truth are emotions we try to avoid. I think it is like a muscle we need to flex. The more we live in truth – the easier it will become to receive it.
