I Wish I Was Strong

I wish I was strong, with armoured skin

that would protect all feelings held within.

I wish I was tough, I wish I was cold,

so that I’m not bothered by what I am told.

I wish I was confident, completely sure,

For fighting my doubts has become such a chore.

I wish I’d immunity to all of the slights,

not torn up and broken by all of the fights.

I wish I could see some end to the pain

for no sooner it’s over it’ll be back again.

I wish I could vanish, just crumble to dust,

for you have destroyed my belief in trust.

So I’m putting on armour, some tough outer shell,

I’m shattered inside now, but you’ll never tell.
