For giving you a chance, I am sorry; for expecting you to change, I am ashamed

Your intentions were never as good as I claimed, and I should not have assumed you knew how to love

For making believe you couldn’t do wrong, I’ve paid a steep price for being foolish so long

I would have stayed blind if you didn’t let go; I would never have seen the you I now know

For bestowing on you my dreams, I apologize; I had thought they’d be enhanced by some enchantment in your eyes

But you showed me very well how all you choose to take, winds up beneath the pile of promises you break

For envisioning a future, for investing my care and time, I truly am regretful; I must have lost my mind

I once gave you the chance to turn this thing around, but never did you change

You only let me down
