There are a few ways to start this off; one being with the obvious confession and display of sufficient remorse

I should first state that I’ve done a bad thing, and if I had it to do over again—I wouldn’t

Simple enough right? And in no time flat, with those few small words, you’ll unlock the door and welcome me back

Home is a lie…I’d rather call it a cage; you’ve reinforced my leash and collar now, so I cannot squirm out of your hold

Do you realize I’ve wilted? My face used to be so much brighter; I used to shine

I can’t remember the last time I was myself with you

It seems you want a mannequin for your companion, rather than a living, breathing creature with desires and a heart—something I am certain you’ve lost or have always lacked

A pity you’re so sad…if you weren’t, I could despise you; but in a way you’re worse off than me, because I know I’m all you’ve got

It’s almost pathetic how you hide your fear of being left alone by monopolizing me—selfishly

There are a few ways to end all this; one being with a firm goodbye and a lasting look over my shoulder

But if I see you there, so forlorn and forgotten, left behind to live with yourself…

I’ll certainly turn right back around, and remember the reasons I promised to stay
