What are numbers in our lives?

Submitted: July 19, 2017

A A A | A A A

Of course, numbers change

And so do we

We’re lost in a range

Numbers make us be

On our birthday: innocent

Then the opposite

Hellbent on heaven sent

Love and lust beset

To have is to be rich

To have not is to be poor

Normal numbers we stitch

To pocket a number that’s sure

Just how much we weigh

Look at the gage and calculate

An obsession to obey

A better number is normal weight

Then look at the clock

That just keeps ticking

Some want it to stop

Have it two-way kicking

Then look at the calendar

The numbers that fade

Even if everyone demanded

It be a number well paid

Young want number speed

Old want it slow

Each one to succeed

In making a number glow
