By The Lake.

You took me out this morning, I thought we’re going for a walk;

but then you saw that neighbour guy and you began to talk.

You made us change direction, the rough path we’re to take,

our walk is put on hold for you’re going sailing on that lake.

Can’t hide my disappointment, the forest was in my head,

I’m laying here just thinking that I should have stayed in bed.

I can see you in the distance, sailing in that boat,

it always comes as a surprise when it does stay afloat.

You’ll be gone for hours now, I’ll just have to rest my chin,

my dreams of chasing rabbits are now buried deep within.

I’ll listen to the water, the birds that squawk and cry,

pondering just what went wrong, and letting out a sigh.

Perhaps tomorrow morning you won’t get to stop and talk,

maybe then you’ll take me on that promised woodland walk.
