A soldier’s creed

A memory of the forgotten,

The song of the weak, and the cry of the sick,

A tale so old and lost of a warrior who gave his life for the stormy cause,

The sacrifice he made for the wealth of us,

And yet is forgotten and scarce in my hollow mind,

The truth of pain and loss remembered yet forgotten,

The sigh, of the dead and damned is heard,

The forgotten memory of his painful ways,

So lost, confused in our shallow unbound minds we convey,

To look at the shy crystal waters of life we fail to conceive,

For him to believe, we see.

Look into the pool of life, the crystal clearness of undoubted sinful life,

I cry, salty drops hit the water rippling its essence of purity,

I sigh, feeling the kneeling shadows of soldiers behind watching,

Crying their black tears of guilt, sorrow, and swell of sly death,

Watching half kneeling as the world began spinning,

Eyes wide life pulsing into the kneeling soldiers,

Places changed in that sandy storm

Now I cried black drops reeking of death, as I fought through,

I was forgiven as light kissed my cheek,

A second chance,

Remembering the truth of a soldier’s creed, I survived,

A memory now remembered by some and continually forgotten by none.
