Temptation

Ignorance is a temptation.

The temptation to live as vapid cattle,

But be accepted

And be happy.

We crave happiness

It’s the most addictive drug

More dangerous than heroin

Diseases our very core.

Our belief systems

Oh how they are so very poisoned

Make us into addicts

Of belonging and meaning.

Happiness or ignorance it’s all the same,

Blinding us from the truth,

The truth that is the only truth,

That we can never accept.

After all happiness is but a chemical or series of them,

Just the same as LSD.

But we can’t notice the devastating effects of it

Until it’s too late when we are dead.

There’s nothing after death,

Not even darkness

As emptiness is worse the darkness

And more frightening too.

It’s easy to sercombe,

To the temptation of ignoring the emptiness

But I ask you this,

If you ignore a fire will it still burn down your home?
