This poem is supposed to sum up that familiar feeling I get sometimes, when I look in the mirror and remember where I came from. But what it means to you, is up for suggestion.

10 years time

Reaching out, I couldn't be,

much further from reality.

Your desperation, deep depression,

sickness has created me.

Abandoned by your next of kin,

your equaliser from within,

second to none,

I'm second best,

take me and forget the rest.

You make me laugh, you're such a joke,

huddled in a room of smoke,

Curled up like a fetus, dreaming,

voices in your head are screaming.

Tomorrow is another grave,

to dig yourself and make your nave.

counting every broken glass,

or rusty jagged blade you pass.

These opportunities you've missed,

and other people still insist,

its just depression, in your head

They wouldn't flinch if you were dead.

Medicated, rendered numb,

naked, wasted, deaf and dumb.

Born again an empty shell,

you took the long way down to hell.

Listen not to voice of reason,

parasitic, poison, treason.

I will put your pain to bed,

You're seeing red, I'll see you dead.

You made me for your own protection,

insecure, lack of affection.

 I'm your addiction, illness, crime.

I'll still be there in 10 years time!
