Awake

I jumped forward from my sleep. The bed covers fell from me, collapsing on my shaking lap. I looked over at the blinking clock on the nightstand. It read 11:14 in bright green numbers. Big enough for the neighbors to see if the clock was facing the window. I sighed heavily and wiped my sleepy eyes. It was another nightmare where I was killing someone, torturing her. It was sick to say the least, I was smiling and laughing the whole time. I cringed at myself. I looked down at my hands. I sat there like that for a while, gathering my thoughts. Just barely, there seemed to be a lapse on my life. I’m sure it was just me blinking. But was once not there is now there. Or was it always there? I’m not sure. I didn’t clean myself very well, must have been that. That’s right! I didn’t take a shower. I need to remember to shower before I sleep if I’m going to paint. Especially if I’m painting with the color red. I laid back down and brought the blankets up around me. They felt a bit wet, it might be from the paint. I’ll get it cleaned in the morning. I stared at the clock as I drifted off to sleep. 4:09. That’s great, just a few hours until I have to wake up for work.

I woke up with a start. It was another nightmare. This time a young man barely in his teens. I had taken him from an alley and brought him to the forest where I butchered him. I cut his body into pieces, at every joint I cut. Truly my mind was sick! I bundled my bedding together and placed it in the hamper. I’ll bleach them later. It’ll get the red paint out. I threw my clothes in there as well and headed into the shower. I had gotten that paint everywhere! This is what I get for not cleaning. Now all my white fabric and my beautiful white home are stained with that red!

Nothing a good shower and bleach wouldn’t fix. I cleaned myself off in the shower and then got dressed in a white suit. Then I went down stairs and made myself some coffee and I popped on the TV. The news was on. How lovely! The news was always good to watch. Very informative. I listened intently and watched in horror as they described a serial killer on the loose. How scary! I better lock my doors at night! They found a pile of limbs guts and blood in the forest near the Super Market. How scary indeed!
