Every time I see you
waves crash all around me.
I can’t remember exactly when I fell,
but like Autumn,
I am in a constant state of falling over beautiful things.
I stumbled out of winter with my heart still unthawing.
And there you stood
with your soul wide open.
With the sky on your lips
and the rays of the sun in your hands.
Your light washes over the skin on my back.
Reminding me that I am
alive.
Reminding me that I am worthy
of warmth.
