Put me in a mood, why don’t you? Torture my conscience, why don’t you?

Gouge into my chest, why don’t you? Claw a rift in my heart, why don’t you?

Aren’t your hands bloody enough by now?

Shall I shower you with scalding tears?

Or perhaps you’d like me to shriek, and pour agony through your ears

In tampering with my nerves, you are criminally adept

You know all the things to say to infuriate, degrade and destroy

This occupation of yours is taxing to my mentality, to my health

My sanity—I feel it waning, disintegrating beneath your glare

What is it you want? What is it you feel can justify your venom, your cruelty?

What spurs you on? What keeps you here stabbing your fingers straight through me?

There is no reasoning, there is no method, there is no pathway through your madness

You long to make me hurt like you, and think my pain should lessen yours

You are ignoble and insensitive; you are impaired by an imagined grudge

You hold my humanity, my love against me, because you’re wretched…and so cold
