I wrote this mere minutes ago after a frustrating day and a difficult night and morning trying to encourage myself to get up and live instead of wallowing.
This poem follows the timing and realization, the lack of physical reasoning, lonliness, and previous poor coping mechanisms of my depression.
I tried to put an emphasis on the word 'will' to show the importance of what you want to and can tolerate.
The last two stanzas are especially important to me in this poem. Sometimes it can feel like betrayal to recover while relapsing is like someone 'coming home' that's intrusive but who you're comfortable with.
No one's going to read this entire blub but if you do- make poems, not scars. ;)

When

you return to the front lines the bodies will

bloat from sunlight,

wheeze and rattle under the moon

When you

return to the front lines pus will

invite death more than blood

When you return

to the front lines loneliness will

speckle the yellow poppies with despair

When you return to the front lines

the ghosts of those who never existed

who you denied

the ones you kissed before your depart

will

scavenge the body for food.
