Felt like writing, but it was really purging; felt like speaking, but it was really vomiting…something hurled straight from the heart

Felt like swimming, but it was really drinking, swallowing something so full as to be translucent

Felt like flying, but it was being released, being let go by burdens and set free from my mind

Liberation in words scratched into my skin, looks like scars, but they’re really stories

Segments of bad lumped in with the good, memories of present and past misdemeanors

Through the silence of ink, I hear the sound of redemption, like a heart beating its wings with each whirl of the wind

The difference between freedom and falling apart is the lack of a need to be put back together

Losing it all to the tides of a dream, feels like going under, being swept away

But in the end it is worth being deprived, just to feel when you’re able to breathe again
