I know! I know! "What is this title? I don't even know the meaning!". Isn't that what you are thinking? Well, give me the next ten minutes of your valuable time. I'll explain the meaning of this word with a small story. Shall we begin?

Here it goes,

Mahima, a newly married girl is doing her morning Pooja. She finished her ‘aarthi’ and then prayed for her newly married life to be prosperous. Her husband Prateik, had gotten ready to go to his office. Once he left home, she started being a home maker.

**Well you are giving me only ten minutes of your time. So I do need to tell you what really matters. So, keeping the intimacy between Mahima and Prateik aside, we'll dive right into the crux of the story**

In the evening, while she was arranging her belongings in their new ‘Almaari’, she found one of her old diaries and she was a bit surprised. She was curious to read her own life story. After all, looking at our past life is the biggest joke we could ever hear.

First page had, ‘I will lose at least 5 kgs within May’, ‘My CGPA will be more than 8 in this semester’, ‘This year, I’ll continuously write my day to day events in my diary, who I now name Sita’ kinda jokes. After that, a lot of empty pages (obviously!).

Then she opens a page that suddenly took her by surprise. She had written,

Date: 29.09.2014-Monday

Dear Sita, Who might this guy be? How could someone doesn’t want a ‘thanks’? And why am I still remembering this guy when I didn’t even see his face? Ok, you know what, I’m gonna tell you this story eventhough you don’t like me writing it. Coz, its damn interesting. Let’s just call him ‘MAN’ as he was the only man who ever impressed me. Oh! No kids, men, legends joke. He really was a man.

**

Mahima goes for an interview to a School. She is waiting outside the principal’s office and thinking about all the million possible ways she could mess up this interview. In a not so far distance, a MAN (TEACHER) having lunch with his students. She could only see him from behind not his face, but clear enough to know that he is feeding his lunch to those children and she could see those children feed him their lunch as well. She was impressed by that teacher and the kind of behavior he had. And suddenly she remembered she was there for an interview and got nervous about it. She started praying to God looking up to the ceiling. Suddenly she heard a giggle beside her. She turned towards the sound, and there was this little kid who was standing at the end of the stairs which is going downstairs, making fun of her as she was talking to the ceiling. She just couldn’t take that insult and then hid behind the small wall along the stairs. She peeked a little to see if the kid is gone, but by that time the kid had already came up waiting for her to peek. Caught red-handed. She grinned at the kid while she was asked to come inside the principal’s office for her final interview.

She finished her interview and was going out. But then she heard someone shout ‘Hello!!! Mam’. She turned back, and saw one kid running towards her with some papers on its hand. The kid came near her and gave her some papers, one of which was her Provisional Certificate of her college degree. She was shocked to have missed it in the first place and thanked the kid who brought it to her. She then asked her who gave that paper for which the kid pointed out someone going outside in a bike. She urged to get there and thank him. But she couldn’t as he had already started moving.

**

I really wish I had thanked him. Okay, I admit. I really wish I had seen his face!!

She turns to the next page.

At the same time, somewhere else another GUY turns his diary page and reads what he had written. The page shows, its the same date as Mahima's.

The GUY's diary reads,

Date: 29.09.2014-Monday

Who might she be? Crazy enough to lose to a kid, dumb enough to lose her important certificate and pretty enough to give a scratch on my heart. And who thought her to write? The way she writes her ‘S’ is really unique and feels nicer. I never thought someone’s writing could make us feel warm. This is a new one.

**

The Man while having lunch with a bunch of kids, takes a look through the window behind him and sees a girl hiding behind the staircase wall and getting caught to a kid. He couldn’t see her face but he suddenly feels like wanting to.

After finishing his lunch, he walks along the principal’s office and finds her gone.

A little disappointed Man goes back. But the next second, he gets called by the principal and been given some papers that Mahima forgot to take. He thinks about getting them to her by himself but he gets a call and disappointed. He gives the papers to peon and leaves hurrily.

**

I wish I had seen her once. This could be my ‘the disappointment’ in my life. Or is it already?

He turns next page.

---*---

Mahima's room.

Now, she reads  her next entry.

Date: 12.10.2014 – Sunday

Can you believe it?? I saw him again today. I know it was him. I didn’t see his face again but I’m pretty sure that’s him.

**

Mahima is sitting inside a bus. The bus makes a stop somewhere. And that is where she recognizes the MAN’s bike. A man comes near that bike with a helmet and sits on it, starts it and starts moving. Mahima saw that he didn’t take the side stand of the bike and tries to warn him. But due to the sound from the bus music, she couldn’t reach him. She then just opens one of her notebooks that she had in her hand, tears it, squeezes it and throws at him while the bus started to move. She couldn’t see it he had taken the side stand once she threw the paper.

**

I wish I had known if he’s safe. Will I be able to sleep tonight? God, I wish I had sleep inducing tablets.

She turns next page.

---*---

The GUY continues reading his second entry now. Of course, the date is the same as Mahima's. Now now now!!! Don't say coincidence yet.

Date: 12.10.2014 – Sunday

It must be her. I’m 99.999999% sure. I could recognize that ‘S’ of her handwriting from her papers that she missed in school.

**

The Man with his helmet, comes and starts his vehicle without taking the side stand. He starts moving without noticing it and suddenly a paper falls on him and he stops. He tries to park the vehicle to see what the paper was about, so he tries to park it by its side stand. But, it is already stretched. That is when he realized he hadn’t taken the stand before starting his vehicle. SIGHS. Picks the paper and opens it and suddenly he could recognize the handwriting of the girl that he saw one day in school. He is upset that he couldn’t see her now as well.

**

Do I just owe her my life? I wish I had thanked her. Or at least seen her face.

He turns next page.

---*---

Mahima looks nervous. Maybe the thoughts in her mind are like, 'Should I read this?', 'Will I relive my memories?', 'If so, can I count them as sweet memories?', 'I am married now. So would that be right?'. Well, its just my assumption. Only someone in that situation would really know what hell they're going through. What??? Its me. The author!

Mahima reads her next entry somewhere in her diary.

Date: 13.11.2014 – Thursday Morning, Around 8 AM.

I nearly saw him. If only I hadn’t need to go to my office, I would’ve waited more and eventually met him.

**

Mahima goes to a store, buys a pen, checks if it is good to write and gives the shopkeeper a note of 100 Rs. He asks for a change and she says she’ll go get the change. She went somewhere, gets the change and comes back to the store and shocked to see the Man’s bike out front of the store. She pays the shopkeeper and the shopkeeper points her towards a direction that somebody was searching for her. She was surprised and realized that it must be him and waits for him to get back. But it was already late for her work, so she had to go after some time of waiting. She is sooo disappointed that she couldn’t see him.

**

I could’ve gone out looking for him but by that time, he might’ve come back to the store. That must be the FATE’s most entertaining game. And why should I be curious about seeing his face? Oh Sita, my hormones are playing me I think.

The she turns her page.

---*---

Okay! I don't know what this GUY is thinking now. Nothing can be visible from the back of his head. But I'm sure he's nervous too. How do I know? Is that what you are asking? Well, let me tell you how. He just took his hands to support his head right after seeing this page. I'm sure its the same date as Mahima's. Let's peep through his entry as well.

Date: 13.11.2014 – Thursday Morning, Around 8 AM.

Why is this fate so cruel? It knows I badly wanted to see her. But still, It played its most favorite game of its whole eternity in my life.

**

The Man parks his bike outside a store and goes into the store and buys a pen. He wants to test it if it is working fine and that is when he saw her handwriting on that book. He asks the shopkeeper where is that girl and the shopkeeper tells him that she had gone out, so he goes out looking for her. He couldn’t find her and so he comes back to the shop and comes to know that she had already gone.

**

Am I feeling something? Could this be love? How could someone develop love towards another person without seeing them or talking to them or not knowing at all for that matter. If it is, then I am weird and the fate is to be blamed.

He turns his page.

---*---

Okay, enough with the nostalgia. Peeping into other's life is heavenly I know. But, how is this story gonna end? Well you might wanna go further. Don't worry, it'll only take around two minutes. I know you have a lot to do in your precious time. Now,

Mahima's room:

Mahima finish reading her diary and it has already become around 5.30 PM. She then looks at her ‘THAALI’, the yellow thread that is tied around the bride’s neck in her wedding. She is married now. She just realized that she cannot have any memories of another guy even it is too sweet a memory to remember. She hears her husband Prateik’s car sound outside their home and suddenly she hides her diary.

Its midnight now, both Prateik and Mahima are done with their dinner and small talks and went for bed. Once Mahima confirmed her husband is asleep, she gets up slowly moves towards where she hid her diary and she is very cautious about not waking him up. She goes to the terrace, takes her diary, lights it up and then throws it out. She then comes back to bed and covers her face with a blanket. Once she covers her face, suddenly Prateik opens his eyes and shows confusion in his face. It looks like he now has a lot of questions. Why would she go out at this time of the night? And why should she be so subtle about it. Prateik, gets up from his bed, and goes to terrace. He knew she was on the terrace as he heard a little noise when she was going on the stairs. He goes up. He looks down from the terrace. He couldn’t see anything. He takes up his lighter,……..with his DIARY as well. He takes HIS diary, lights it up and then throws it out of the terrace. It falls on the same diary that is already burned up.

One thing is for sure. He didn't come to terrace on any suspicion or whatsoever. He came because he had a secret and he wanted to shove it deep anywhere so that it can never be found again. So, the MAN became Mahima's 'THE' man. And the beauty of it? They didn't know yet. How would they react when they come to know? Well, that's whole another drama right? Again, this is not something that we can picturize. The surprise, the emotions, overflowing of the love that was stagnated and buried deep inside their heart. Beautiful isn't it?

Is this the fate’s ultimate game? To make them fall without their conscience, and then get them together, again without their conscience? Or maybe it is trying to prove something? Like, it will take care of the rest if both the persons have true innocent feelings towards each other? Only the fate knows.

See you soon,

The Author.
