solid lines of time

line up inside my mind

why not hide?

life’s watchful eyes

write all the lies

in type across the sky

a prize for noble tries

and cries for help in rhyme

and sighs under guise

spend time in jars of brine

lying alone, reminded

of signs that they find

now too tired to apply

so they pine to resign

climbing ever higher

trying not to cry

lying their way through life

and dying still but I’m

writing without time

defying rules of rhyme

in spite of what’s outside

these silent walls of white

frightened people slide

out of time and wrong and right

and nights are filled with crime

and people vy for dimes

and I sit in the quiet

safe inside but none the wiser

and wonder,

who

am I?
