For you, Mike!

Night Sky.

There’s something about that night sky,

it draws me in, I don’t know why.

So much calmer, so serene,

it changes what my life has been.

It wraps me up in swirls of black,

making a shield to day’s attack.

The world is now a different place,

a vortex changing time and space;

it shrinks the distance, drains the miles,

turns things over all the while.

I reach your side, I reach your arms,

we’re both so safe from all life’s harms.

But then it swirls, the darkness twists,

flings me off into the mists.

That moment’s with me, keeps me warm,

I know I needn’t feel forlorn.

I love the stars, adore the moon,

they sing to me, they’ll be back soon.

Strange to think my night’s your day,

but this darkness holds me – that’s okay.

The darkest night, it’s velvet cape,

brings me dreams, lets me escape.
