“Remember the way we used to be?” You asked sorrowfully. 

“Yeah, I do.” I replied, not making eye contact. How could I, especially after all we’d been through? 

“Why can't we go back to that?” You said, inching closer to me. I backed up a few steps. 

“Why? Are you serious? I loved you so much that it scared the hell out of me, and you used my attention to feed your ego until you had drained me of every bit of self-respect and sanity in my body. You told me that we were something, when to you I realistically meant nothing. You used me as a cheap joke in your lunch table conversations. The worst part, though, is that you told all of the people I care about just how easy I was to screw over. That… that is why we will never go back to how it was before. I can't unhear what I was told, and I can't unsee you as I do now.”
