The Cold Bones Pub

The Cold Bones Pub smelled of sawdust and steaming pea soup. No one ever ordered the soup and so the age of the batch would just be a wild guess.

Tanner Hide sat at the east end of the bar pulling his fingers off to impress the Countess Lea DeSpoiled. She barely noticed and complained loudly that her mummified body was no longer as sexy as when she ruled the upper world.

“ I’ll have it any day.” said Tanner Hide as he dropped his last finger to the floor.

“ You will never have it. Not even in its worm infested condition. My mother would never approve.”

The clock chimed the death hour of four A.M. and thirteen patrons reluctantly left their seats for the dark confines of Mary Agnus Cemetery. [Formerly St. Agnus until some embarrassing information surfaced]

Tanner Hide drew the short straw to stay above and cover the others. He did so. Afterwards he sat against the Countess’ head stone and wrote her one last poem.
